    Course outcomes and pathways    

    A Certificate of Registration(Real Estate Salesperson), issued by the Office of Fair Trading, will allow you to be employed by a Licensed Real Estate Agent in a sales or property management role.

    The Certificate of Registration (Real Estate Salesperson)course requires completion of the following units:

    • CPPDSM3019B Communicate with clients as part of agency operations- supersedes and equivlent to CPPDSM3019A
    • CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry
    • CPPDSM4008A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property sales to complete agency work
    • CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work

      Successful completion of this course will meet the educational requirements for a Certificate of Registration from the NSW Office of Fair Trading. 

      Students undertaking the course take approximately 7 - 10 days to finish. However, there is no time restriction and you may choose to complete studies in more or less time. 

      A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon completion of the course. 

      Completion of this course will also provide ‘advanced standing’ in the Real Estate Agent, Stock and Station Agent and Business Agent Licensing programmes.  College staff can assist you in determining the pathways that are most appropriate for your career plan.   

      Assessment  

      Course assessment is competency based.  Competency-based assessment is largely activity-based and practical. However, competence also implies that an individual demonstrates an understanding of the knowledge that is the basis of the practical task being carried out.

      There is a combination of assessment tasks that require written responses which include:

      • multiple choice questions

      • short answer questions

      • and either 1 or 2 of the following:-

        • case study

        • written demonstration

        • workplace project

      Students are assessed according to whether or not they have achieved the performance criteria for each element specified in the units of competency they are undertaking. This method of assessment judges performance against a prescribed standard, not against other students. Students are assessed as 'competent' or 'not yet competent'.

      Completed assignments may be uploaded onto the website for marking – there is a 2MB upload limited - or emailed or posted to the College.

      It is the responsibility of the assessor to ensure all aspects of the assessment process are

      • valid

      • reliable

      • fair

      • flexible

      Assessment is conducted within approximately 48 hours of submission.

      Salespersons and property managers require a Certificate of Registration and must not act as or exercise any of the functions of a real estate salesperson/property manager unless the person does so as an employee of the holder of a licence under the Act 

      The cost of applying for a Certificate of Registration with the Office of Fair Trading is $126.00 (as of July 2014)

    A Certificate of Registration as a NSW Registered on-site residential manager), issued by the Office of Fair Trading, will allow you to be employed by a Licensed on-site residential property Manager, or a Licensed Real Estate Agent conducting on-site property management business.

    The Certificate of Registration (Registered on-site residential manager)course requires completion of the following units:

    • CPPDSM3019B Communicate with clients as part of agency operations - supersedes and equivlent to CPPDSM3019A
    • CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry
    • CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work

    Section 3 of the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002 defines registered on-site residential property manager as - a person (other than the holder of an on-site residential property manager’s licence or the holder of a real estate agent’s licence) who, as an employee of an on-site residential property manager or a corporation that carries on the business of an on-site residential property manager.

    Note: It is a condition of an on-site residential property manager’s licence that the licensee may act as an on-site residential property manager only in respect of premises at which the licensee’s principal place of residence is situated and only if the licensee owns or has a prescribed interest in that principal place of residence.
