A certificate of registration as a stock and station salesperson is issued to a person who is employed by a licensee as a stock and station agent and who is involved in carrying out normal agency operations.

Course outcomes and pathways    

Successful completion of this course will give you with the educational requirements needed for application of a Certificate of Registration with the NSW Office of Fair Trading. 


A Certificate of Registration will allow you to be employed by a Licensed Stock & Station Agent in. The following must be completed: 

  • CPPDSM3019A Communicate with clients as part of agency operations
  • CPPDSM4081A Work in the stock and station agency sector.
  • CPPDSM4008A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property sales to complete agency work

Students undertaking the course take approximately 7 - 10 days to finish. However, there is no time restriction, students may choose to complete studies sooner. 


A Statement of Attainment plus Academic Transcript will be issued to students upon completion of the course. 


This course will enable the student to gain recognition of prior learning, thus reducing the Stock & StationAgents Licensing programme. College staff can assist you in determining the pathways that are most appropriate for your career plan.    

Legislative and licensing requirements  

All applicants for a certificate of registration must satisfy the Commissioner for Fair Trading that he/she:

  • is at least 16 years of age
  • is a fit and proper person to hold a certificate of registration
  • has the qualifications required for the class of certificate of registration concerned
  • is not a disqualified person.

Salespersons require a Certificate of Registration and must not act as or exercise any of the functions of a real estate salesperson unless the person does so as an employee of the holder of a licence under the Act 


The cost of applying for a Certificate of Registration with the Office of Fair Trading is $114.00 (as of June 2010)    

Training and assessment  

There is a combination of assessment tasks that require written responses and include:-

  • multiple choice questions
  • short answer questions
  • and either 1 or 2 of the following:-
    • case study
    • written demonstration
    • workplace project

Assessment is competency based.Competency-based assessment is largely activity-based and practical. However, competence also implies that an individual demonstrates an understanding of the knowledge that is the basis of the practical task being carried out.

Students are assessed according to whether or not they have achieved the performance criteria for each element specified in the units of competency they are undertaking. This method of assessment judges performance against a prescribed standard, not against other students. Students are assessed as 'competent' or 'not yet competent'.

It is the responsibility of the assessor to ensure all aspects of the assessment process are

  • valid
  • reliable
  • fair
  • flexible

Assessment is conducted within approximately 48 hours of submission.

Completed assignment may be uploaded onto the website for marking – there is a 2mg upload limited, or emailed or posted to the College.
